On Oct. 29, 2012, Transformation Calgary welcomed Ron Norick, the former mayor of Oklahoma City, to Calgary. Norick told City Council, media and, later in the day, more than 150 community leaders about how a dedicated municipal sales tax transformed his city.
Transformation Calgary believes a similar initiative could work in Calgary.

Canada West Foundation Report
In January 2011, Transformation Calgary commissioned the Canada West Foundation to study an optional penny tax. In turn Casey Vander Ploeg, a senior policy analyst with the Foundation, wrote “The Penny Tax: A Timely Tax Innovation to Boost Our Civic Infrastructure.”
